Thank you for trying COZ - Alpha Playground 1!
COZ is a game currently in development at nameless synthetic lifeforms (more at namelesssyntheticlifeforms.com).
Alpha Playground 1 represents only a small sample of the gameplay being developed for the full release.

***IMPORTANT***
When you are wearing a virtual reality HMD, it's hard to know where your limbs will land when you flail them. You will be flailing them a lot.
When playing COZ AP1, please ensure that the area around you and within your full reach on all sides, above and below, is free from obstructions.
nameless synthetic lifeforms is not responsible for damage to your person or your property.
Set up your gamespace well and be mindful of your surroundings.

-Alpha Playground 1-

AP1 provides players with a very early look at the grappling gameplay used in COZ.
There is no primary objective, however, 27 collectable Cit Shells have scattered around the environment for the player to find.
When you locate a Cit Shell, enable your Energy Thwapper and thwap it.
If thwapped with enough force (requires a little oomph, but no need to pull a muscle) the shell will be destroyed and text indicating the players progress will be revealed.
If a Cit Shell is out of reach, try firing a rope at it to pull it closer to you.
Have Fun!

-Razer Hydra Setup-

For best results, place the Hydra base station in front of you, at least 6 inches beyond your reach (so as not to smash it when flailing. See above).
It is best to start the game with the controllers on the base station, peak out from your HMD to scoot over to grab them, then scoot back to your play space.
If that's not going to work, you can hold each controller as the game starts. When the game loads into the main menu, aim forward with both, then press the LEFT TRIGGER then RIGHT TRIGGER to activate the controllers.

-Hydra Configuration-

The game will load directly into the Main Menu.
Press DOWN on the RIGHT STICK until "CONFIG" is highlighted.
Press BUTTON 1 on the RIGHT CONTROLLER to select "CONFIG."
Follow the on-screen instructions.
They Hydra controllers will not be enabled until you have gone through the configuration precess.
You can reconfigure at any time by pressing START and selecting "CONFIG" from the Main Menu.

-Oculus Rift Setup-

The Rift is enabled by default.
If the game is not displaying or tracking your head movements, try turning the HMD off and then back on and/or removing and replacing the USB cable.
For further support, visit oculusvr.com.

-Resolution Settings-

The Rift's native resolution is 1280 by 800. This is the default selection for COZ AP1.
Some players report improved visuals when using higher resolutions. Use 1680 by 1050 for best results (if framerates become slow, return to a lower resultion, or lower the game's quality settings).

-Config File Settings-

Many of COZ AP1's parameters can be changed by the player.
In your AP1 installation directory (where you found this ReadMe) is a folder called COZ-AP1_Data.
Inside that folder you will find a file called "CozConfig.cfg". Make a backup of this file before making any changes.
The config file can be opened in a text editor. It is important to follow the existing formatting. Removing "=" or "," on a line, or changing the name of a parameter may prevent the game from running properly.
These configuration options are provided for the player to experiment with. It is strongly recommended you play with the defaults for a while to familiarize yourself with the game before experimenting with changes.

-Skinning Support-

Many of the surfaces in COZ AP1 can be modified or changed completely by the player.
In CozConfig.cfg, under TextureFolder=, replace "c:\CozSkins," with the folder location of your skinning images.
Remember to leave the "=" before and the "," after, or the game may not run properly.
